Re-tuning the song of the South

So often people of faith here in the south and in small towns are pictured as building up walls that keep out those deemed different and pushing down the hurting and forgotten.

The Progressive Redneck Preacher lifts up stories of southern and small town people living out their faith and values in ways that widen the welcome at the family table to include even more folks previously overlooked and in ways that work to make our communities more just and fair for all.   We explore what it means to be deeply southern or small town, to be a person of faith, and to express these values in open-hearted, open-minded ways.

It’s heartening to know that there are actually progressive folks still living in the USA today. I moved permanently to Australia from the states in 2007. Since then, it seems the USA has become utterly, sadly spoiled with rampant bigotry and intolerance. And here in AU, where our own gov’t unfortunately follows the USA, it is also beginning to sour.

Knowing there are other people who want the best life for ALL, is a really nice thing to know.

Thank you for your kindness. xx
