Song of the South: Freedom Highway

In thinking of the call to be people of justice, I am reminded of a great piece, grounded in the story of a forcibly displaced people — the people of African descent here in my dear southeast — and their journey for freedom.  This song by Durham native Rhiannon Giddens calls us to hear the cry of those freedom fighters to continue to march for freedom to be recognized for all people, not just those like us.  I think this echoes well the challenge at the heart of what Scripture says as well.  Hope it challenges and encourages you.

Your progressive redneck preacher,

Micah
